Newspaper Exercise

This interactive tool allows students to create a newspaper article using any of the historical photos found under 'Lesson Activity Images'. In order to begin this newspaper article learning activity, have students look over the photographs and decide which one is most suitable. Then have students write a rough draft of the article and headline according to the instructions you provide related to writing a newspaper article.

After writing a draft of the newspaper article and headline, students may begin to work on-line and fill in the required fields. All fields must be completed before students are allowed to submit the article for the “preview”. Provide these directions:

• First, students fill in the three empty fields above the photographs.
• Second, students select one of the 60 photographs by first choosing a category from the pull down menu and downloading a photo.
• Third, students compose their article or type in a final draft.
