Jimmy Banks was a renowned American soccer defender. After an impressive career at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, Banks went on to play six seasons of indoor soccer with the Milwaukee Wave. He also earned 35 caps for the U.S. national team from 1986 to 1991, including two appearances in the 1990 FIFA World Cup.

Following his retirement from professional play, Banks transitioned to coaching, working with youth clubs as well as the men's team at the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Sadly, he passed away from stomach cancer on April 26, 2019.

Welcome to "Movers and Shakers”, a digital series that profiles the influential leaders, innovators and change-makers who have shaped the future of Milwaukee.
