ITINERARY
Day 1: May 20, 2027
- Transit: Flight from Milwaukee International Airport to St. Louis, MO, followed by scenic ground transportation to Hannibal.
- Check-In: Lodging at a historic mansion in Hannibal (home base for all 3 nights).
- Evening: Group dinner in town.
Day 2: May 21, 2027
- Morning: Breakfast (I), followed by a guided tour of The Mark Twain Boyhood Home & Museums. Starting at the Interpretive Center, the walking tour winds through 8 restored buildings, including Clemens’ childhood home and the Becky Thatcher and Huck Finn residences—a neighborhood famously profiled in the PBS Mark Twain series. Features an original Norman Rockwell painting gallery.
- Afternoon: Lunch (I), followed by a 2:00 PM tour of Rockcliffe Mansion. Built between 1898 and 1900 in Georgian Revival style, this 30-room, 10-fireplace Gilded Age estate sits on a bluff overlooking the river and features original period furnishings, Tiffany fixtures, filled with rich Mahogany and quarter-sawn oak woodwork. Listed on The National Register of Historic Places, The interior is decorated in late Victorian and Art Nouveau styles with most of the original furnishings and fixtures.
- Evening: Free time in downtown Hannibal, followed by group dinner at 5:00 PM (I).
Day 3: May 22, 2027
- Morning: Breakfast at 8:30 AM at a different restaurant (I). At 10:00 AM, explore Mark Twain Cave, the landmark limestone cave where young Sam Clemens played—the direct inspiration for key scenes in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. At 11:00 AM, take a narrated Hannibal Trolley Tour covering local historical landmarks.
- Afternoon: Lunch (I), followed at 2:00 PM by a live performance from a Mark Twain Impersonator blending biography and Twain's signature satire. Wraps up with a wine tasting (I) at the local Hannibal winery.
- Evening: A 6:30 PM, 2-hour Mark Twain Riverboat Dinner Cruise down the Mississippi River ("Old Man River") featuring a dinner buffet (I).
Day 4: May 23, 2027
- Morning: Farewell group breakfast (I) in Hannibal.
- Transit: Transfer to St. Louis for return flights home to Milwaukee.
