Day 1: Thursday, August 26, 2027
Arrival in Historic Newport
- 5:45 AM — Departure from Milwaukee: Meet your tour group at Mitchell International Airport for your morning flight to Providence, Rhode Island.
- Afternoon — Journey to Newport: Upon landing in Providence, board our private transportation for a scenic drive to your home for the next four nights, the Admiral Fitzroy Inn.
- Afternoon Check-In: Unpack and settle into your historic room. Dating back to 1854, this beautiful inn sits proudly on lower Thames Street in Newport’s waterfront district. Learn about its storied history—originally designed by Dudley Newton, serving as a convent, and named after the famous meteorologist who commanded the H.M.S. Beagle.
- Evening: Enjoy a relaxing evening exploring the lively Newport waterfront at your own pace.
Day 4: Sunday, August 29, 2027
Gifted Landmarks & Gothic Revivals
- Morning — Breakfast: Breakfast served at the inn (I).
- Morning Tour — Marble House: Built by William Vanderbilt as a lavish birthday gift for his wife Alva, this solid-marble marvel set off Newport’s transition from a quiet wooden cottage colony into a legendary gold-paved resort.
- 12:30 PM — Lunch (On Your Own) (NI): Dine at the unique Chinese Tea House, situated right on the oceanfront cliffs of the Marble House grounds.
- Afternoon Tour — Kingscote: Step inside this landmark of American Gothic Revival architecture, the very house that kicked off Newport's famous 19th-century "cottage boom."
- Evening — Farewell Dinner (I): Gather together one last time to toast a magnificent vacation over a delicious group dinner.
Day 2: Friday, August 27, 2027
Gilded Splendor & America's Oldest Tavern
- Morning — Breakfast: Enjoy a delicious, freshly prepared breakfast at the inn (I).
- Morning Tour — The Breakers: Dive headfirst into the Gilded Age. Explore the grandest of Newport’s "summer cottages," designed for the Vanderbilt family as a symbol of their immense social and financial pre-eminence.
- 12:30 PM — Lunch (On Your Own) (NI): Enjoy a lunch break at the beautiful on-site Breakers Café.
- Afternoon Tour — Chateau-sur-Mer: Experience the pinnacle of High Victorian architecture. Before the Vanderbilt’s built their massive palaces in the 1890s, this was the most palatial residence in Newport, featuring stunning ceramics, stenciling, and wallpaper.
- Evening — Dinner at White Horse Tavern (I): Dine with the group at the oldest continuously operating restaurant in the United States! Established in 1673, this historic gem has been welcoming travelers for over 350 years.

- Morning Tour — The Elms: Modeled after a spectacular 18th-century French chateau, this mansion was ahead of its time with Gilded Age technology. Enjoy the outstanding collection of paintings, formal terrace gardens, and fountains.
- 12:30 PM — Lunch (On Your Own) (NI): Find a bite to eat inside the carriage house at The Elms.
- Afternoon Tour — Rosecliff: Tour this iconic mansion, famous for its heart-shaped staircase and grand ballroom. You may recognize its cinematic beauty from movies like The Great Gatsby and True Lies. The second floor features world-class art and design exhibitions.
- Evening — The Grand Bellevue Rail Dining Experience (I): Dress to impress! We travel to nearby Portsmouth, RI, to board meticulously restored 1940s dining cars. Relive the nostalgia of the Grand Steam liner Era while enjoying a formal multi-course meal set against the sparkling backdrop of Narragansett Bay.
Day 5: Monday, August 30, 2027
Farewell to Rhode Island
- Morning — Breakfast: Enjoy your final breakfast at the Admiral Fitzroy Inn (I).
- Morning — Departure: Check out of the inn and board our group transportation back to the airport in Providence.
- Afternoon — Fly Home: Board your flight home, arriving back at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport with a lifetime of Gilded Age memories.
