The Grand Canyon - Sedona, AZ - August 26-30, 2024

Join Milwaukee PBS this May on a five-day adventure to the Grand Canyon, AZ.

August 26, 2024 – Depart from Milwaukee International Airport to Flagstaff, AZ. After landing and boarding our van, we head to Sedona, AZ for the night.

August 27, 2024- After breakfast (I) at the hotel, we tour Sedona on a trolley tour. On this fully narrated tour, you will experience the South side of Sedona, passing by Tlaquepaque’s Art district, and onto amazing vista views and a 10-to-15-minute visit to the famous Chapel of the Holy Cross. We break for lunch and then experience the breathtaking views of West Sedona, highlighting such formations as Thunder Mountain and Chimney Rock, and into the red rock walls of Fay Canyon for a 10-to-15-minute photo stop. After the tour, we make our way to Williams, AZ. Williams is on Route 66 so there is so much to see and do.

We will check into The Grand Canyon Railway Hotel for the night. A big buffet dinner (I) is
enjoyed at The Fred Harvey Restaurant located in the hotel.

August 28, 2024 – Enjoy a substantial breakfast at the hotel and check out. We are transported to the Grand Canyon by rail. There is a Western show 30 minutes before the trip. All aboard The Grand Canyon Railway at 9:30 am. We are seated in the luxury dome section
(snack included).

We travel across 65 miles of beautiful northern Arizona enjoying the historic nature of the train as many cars are restored to circa 1923. Strolling musicians and Western characters combine to recreate an experience of train travel as it was at the turn of the last century.

Arrival is scheduled for 11:45 am. Begin your exploration of the Grand Canyon Village at the south rim. There is plenty of history, shopping, and food to enjoy. Take a comfortable walk along the rim of the majestic Grand Canyon on a mostly level, paved walkway. The Hopi House is an architecturally significant building to tour.

Shuttles are available to get you from one area to another within the village. After an amazing afternoon of exploration at the south rim of The Grand Canyon, we meet at El Tovar, located in the heart of the village, to check in at 4 pm.

Each of the suites in El Tovar Hotel for our group are the best available in Grand Canyon National Park. Each suite has a living room and bedroom with views of either the forest, village, or the canyon. We enjoy dinner (I) together at 5 pm at one of the most sought-after restaurants in the national park – The El Tovar Dining Room.

August 29, 2023 – You will have access to your room until 11 am. Breakfast (I) is at the hotel. The train departs the canyon at 3:30 pm (snack included) and arrives back to Williams at 5:45 pm so you still have time to do some exploration before bidding the Grand Canyon farewell. We will spend the night at The Grand Canyon Railway Hotel again.

August 30, 2023 - After breakfast (I) in the morning we check out and head for Flagstaff for our flight home.

Please note:
The average temperature for August 28th at the South Rim of The Grand Canyon is a high of 80 degrees during the day and 52 degrees at night. The temperature increases further down into the canyon that you go. Therefore, it is cooler on the rim.
