Depart Watertown, WI with additional pickup in Kenosha. Enjoy a charming luncheon tea (I) at the Oliver Mansion in South Bend, followed by a guided visit to the Gene Stratton-Porter Estate in Elkhart. Wander 148 acres of gardens, tour the waterside cabin, and learn about one of America’s most influential authors. Dinner  (I) is served on the estate grounds before settling in for the night at Potawatomi Inn on Lake James in Angola, Indiana.

After breakfast (I), travel to Spiegel Grove, the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Estate, including lunch (I) and a full tour of the home, museum, grounds, and tomb. Continue on to Ohio with dinner (I) along the way, arriving at the legendary Historic Island House, once host to presidents, Hollywood icons, and American notables.

Board the ferry—coach included—for a full day on Put-In-Bay, often called the Key West of the North. Explore Perry’s Victory & International Peace Memorial National Park, enjoy lunch (I), then visit Heineman Winery & Crystal Cave, home to the world’s largest geode. Browse vintage automobiles at Skip Duggan’s Antique Car Museum before dinner (I) on the island. Return by ferry and check in at the magnificent Steele Mansion Bed & Breakfast in Painesville, Ohio, your home for two nights.

After breakfast (I), visit the beloved Christmas Story House in Cleveland, followed by lunch (I) at the iconic Rowley Inn, both famous filming locations from the classic movie. Continue to the James A. Garfield National Historic Site in Mentor, one of the most meticulously restored presidential homes in the country. Return to the Steele Mansion for dinner (I) and an elegant evening.

Check out and head to Cuyahoga Valley National Park for a breathtaking 3.5-hour scenic train ride aboard a private rail car, complete with lunch (I). Following the ride, travel to Michigan with dinner (I) along the way and overnight at the historic Gordon Beach Inn, a beautifully preserved 1920s lakeside inn.

After breakfast (I), visit the newly reopened Barker Mansion, a stunning example of Gilded Age architecture. Lunch (I) is served in the carriage house, followed by a 90-minute guided tour. Then relax as we return to the original pickup locations.
