The eyes of the nation are anxiously watching our own backyard. In Kenosha, protests have turned violent and deadly, following the police shooting of Jacob Blake. Milwaukee PBS’ own Black Nouveau is teaming up with its community partners to tell the story of what is happening in Kenosha.

Over the last several months, Black Nouveau has been telling Milwaukee's stories of health, help and hope, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Its special series “Listen MKE” focuses on the calls for social change that are taking place during this uncertain time. "Listen MKE" is a community listening project with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, WUWM and the Milwaukee Public Library. As this journalistic partnership has been focused specifically on the issue of social justice in southeastern Wisconsin during recent months, it is distinctively equipped to bring the varying views and complexities of the current issues in Kenosha.

For over 28 years, Black Nouveau serves Milwaukee PBS’ commitment to producing and broadcasting quality programming with topics of importance to the diverse viewership it serves. Black Nouveau looks at issues, culture, history and challenges affecting African Americans. Black Nouveau: Listen MKE – Kenosha airs Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 p.m. on Milwaukee PBS 10.
