Join Milwaukee PBS on a three-day adventure to Stout’s Island, WI

A beautiful remote island on the national historic registry, Stout’s Island features many cabins built in the Adirondack style of the northeast. Built in 1903 by lumber baron Frank D. Stout as a summer estate for his family, Stout’s Island Lodge it’s an unparalleled haven for recharging, and unwinding.
On day one, visit Cook-Rutledge Mansion, enjoy a canapé lunch, and tour.Edward Rutledge was a self-made man who worked in the lumber industry in Chippewa Falls and through hard work and smart investments became wealthy. He purchased the mansion in 1887, added to it, and remodeled it extensively. His vision is what you see today, a tribute to his lumber industry ties.
After lunch and the tour, we continue to Stout’s Island. We will take the ferry and arrive at Stouts Island where you will stay for two nights. Enjoy a wonderful chef-prepared dinner. Dinner dress attire is business casual at a minimum. (No hats, caps, or torn clothes allowed).
Explore the island, enjoy a bonfire after dinner, and find your rooms for a great night’s sleep among the nature of the island.
On day two,enjoy the day-to-day activities, as the Stout family would have over 100 years ago. Badminton, bocce ball, croquet, fishing, swimming, hiking, and canoeing are some of the activities to enjoy at your leisure. Enjoy the Elco Boat Cruise, included with your stay. Groups of ten will enjoy a guided boat ride scheduled throughout the day. Lunch will be served in the lodge. Following the activities of the afternoon, dinner (business casual dress attire) is served in the lodge as well.
The last daybegins with breakfast. Wrap up your island stay before 11 am, time to check out. Before we leave, there is one last lunch on the island to enjoy. We will have dinner on the way back to Milwaukee.

Be prepared to register for trip insurance at the time of trip sign up.
Rooms are located in the lodge and cabins throughout the island and will be assigned in order of sign up with lodge rooms being first. All meals are in the lodge.
Stair climbing, above average walking, getting on and off the bus many times during the day, uneven surfaces and standing in one place, must be able to climb into and out of a boat.
