For Teachers: Wisconsin Media Lab

As part of its mission to educate, Milwaukee PBS provides classroom resources to local educators. In addition to Milwaukee PBS’s web pages for teachers and children, we offer access to two very important online resources. Wisconsin Media Lab is a statewide resource for educators. It curates cost-free, award-winning multimedia educational content. Its classroom resources connect to Wisconsin's academic standards, span all curricular areas, and are vetted by Wisconsin educators.

Resources include a wide range of educational media for students in kindergarten through high school. Curricular areas include science, mathematics, English language arts, social studies and many others. There are also some very specific Wisconsin resources including Wisconsin Biographies and Climate Wisconsin. Wisconsin Media Lab also provides professional learning resources for teachers. Best of all, there is no cost to use these valuable resources.

The Wisconsin Media Lab main webpage also provides access to national PBS Learning Media content consisting of thousands of classroom-ready, curriculum-targeted digital resources designed to improve teacher effectiveness and student achievement. PBS Learning Media is a free, online media-on-demand service developed for PreK-12 educators featuring interactives, images, video, audio files and more with lesson plans, background essays, and discussion questions.

PBS Learning Media provides multimedia resources from the National Learning Registry, including content from federal agencies such as NASA, National Science Digital Library, The Library of Congress, and the Smithsonian Institute. It also provides original content from public broadcasting producers and programs like WGBH, NOVA, FRONTLINE, AMERICAN EXPERIENCE, SID THE SCIENCE KID AND THE ELECTRIC COMPANY, all in one place. The service features a robust content library with digital assets designed and aligned to the Common Core Standards for classroom and student achievement across math, science, reading/language arts, social studies, health/physical education, as well as world languages.
