Milwaukee PBS, the Milwaukee Public Library, the Boswell Book Company and Literacy Services invite viewers to examine the power, passion, and joy of reading, with its multi-platform initiative, The Great American Read. The American public and a panel of literary experts picked their 100 favorite books to take part in the first national vote to choose "America's Best-Loved Book."

The polls are open throughout the summer, leading up to the grand finale in October 2018. You can vote at pbs.org/greatamericanread and through hashtag voting on Facebook and Twitter using #GreatReadPBS. Vote by a toll-free phone call and SMS texting will be available in the fall.

Summer Reading Picnic

The Great American Read televised series will resume in the fall culminating in the most expansive national celebration of books and reading ever created as we all choose "America's Best-Loved Book."
Funding for The Great American Read is provided by The Anne Ray Foundation and PBS. In addition, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) has provided grants, in partnership with PBS, to public media stations across the country to create local content and host screenings and forums to encourage summer reading and participation in the initiative.
Programming for The Great American Read is offered as part of a grant from the American Library Association and PBS
